Engagement sessions are a great way for us to connect and get to know each other before your big day arrives! You'll learn all about our posing structure and you'l be a pro by the end of your session! This will make your wedding day pictures a piece of cake!
Engagement sessions typically last 1.5 - 2 hours. I recommend you bring an extra outfit, as you may wish to have two different "looks". Below you'll find some general guidelines to narrow down your perfect outfit.
Memorable Events
I love getting to capture all the special details you've curated for your wedding day.
Details are one of the first things I'll photograph when I arrive on your wedding day so it's great if you have all these items in once place that morning. The list below is a great starting point if you're not sure what to include!
ENGAGEMENT + WEDDING bands (& if you have a pretty ring box!)
I once had a bride bring her grandmother's handkerchief. This is completely optional - but if you have something sentimental you'd like styled with your details, I love including family heirlooms in your detail shots.
2 FULL SETS WITH ENVELOPES + STAMPS & ANY OTHER PAPER STATIONARY YOU MAY HAVE (LIKE PROGRAM CARDS, ETC)
I'd LOVE TO HAVE A FEW CUTS OF THE FLORALS YOU'LL BE USING THROUGHOUT YOUR WEDDING DAY. IF YOUR FLORIST WILL SUPPLY A SMALL BUCKET OF EXTRA PIECES I CAN INCORPORATE THOSE IN YOUR DETAIL SHOTS.
(IF THEY'RE SPECIAL)
Soak your ring in warm water with dishwashing soap for 20 to 40 minutes. Then gently brush the stone with a soft toothbrush, rinse and repeat if needed.
I love capturing the detail of your rings up close. If possible, try to have your engagement ring cleaned or clean it yourself.
Wedding days go by in a blur. As soon as the day begins there is so much to do and so many people to see. Doing a first look will give the two of you a moment alone (with a camera shooting from afar) to soak it all in and think through what the day means to you.
When you have a first look, we can take pictures of the two of you, the bridal party, and some family pictures before the ceremony even begins. This makes the day less rushed and allows us to take more pictures too!
Once you're married, we won't need as much time set aside for photos and you can get to your cocktail hour and reception sooner!
If there's bad weather on the forecast, a first look gives you the option to get pictures done earlier in the day and possibly avoid being stuck in the rain!
A first look give both of you a moment to cry without the audience of all your wedding guests. You can get all your tears out knowing you'll have time to freshen up before pictures too.
It's a special moment when you see your other half for the first time on your wedding day. It'a a moment worth remembering whether you do or a first look or wait for an epic reveal as you walk down the aisle.
If you're wondering whether or not to do a first look on your wedding day, here are some ideas to consider.
Whether you choose to do a first look or the traditional (not seeing each other until the bride walks down the aisle), we'll work with you to create the perfect wedding day schedule. Take a look at the examples below to get a general idea of when to plan for photos on your wedding day.
It's great if you can assign a friend or family member to help make sure we have everyone we need for family photos. This person should know who everyone on the photo list is but not be in too many photos themselves.
It makes the whole process of family photos faster when everyone in them knows what to expect. Let your family members (or anyone else who will be in a photo) to stick around as soon as the ceremony ends so that we don't have to take extra time finding everyone who's walked away.
Family photos aren't anyone's favorite part of a wedding day and we try to take them as efficiently as possible. With that said, keep in mind that every grouping typically takes 2-3 minutes to pose. We want to make sure we get all the family photos that need to be taken without cutting into your cocktail hour or reception too much!
We'll ask you for a list of family picture groupings a few weeks before the day of your wedding. Please make sure you list everyone's first name so that we know who to call for when we're grouping people together for a photo.
(There's a template below that's super easy to customize!)
During your reception, I will be taking photos of the speeches and dancing as well as candid shots of your guests. I will always be availabe to grab a photo of you with a group of guests that may have not been in a planned group photo. I love being your personal paparazzi!
Grand exits are such a fun bookend to your day! They typically consist of a human tunnel along with sparklers, bubbles, glow sticks or something else to celebrate with!
It is helpful if you can designate a few people attending your reception to help organize people into two lines and distribute whatever they will holding.
If you're up for it, I like to have couples run through the tunnel twice to make sure we get that EPIC send off photo!
One of my favorite parts of the wedding experience is delivering your beautiful gallery of images! When your photos are edited and ready, you'll receive a link to your online gallery.
This is a URL where you will have access to all of your images at high resolution. You can scroll through, view, and download them at any time. You'll also be able to share this link with friends and family so they can relive your best day with you!

How do I even begin to write about my absolute favorite vendor in this WORLD? From our engagement, wedding planning process, and wedding day, nothing would be the same without Kris...
THE HIGHEST QUALITY AlbUMS FOR YOUR MOST TREASURED MOMENTS. THESE QUALITY BOOKS WILL LIVE ON FOR GENERATIONS.
A few weeks after your wedding (once you've received your online gallery!) we can start designing your wedding album. The process is super easy and you'll get to pick exactly how you want it.
You'll have the chance to pick out your album size, material and color. I have a page outlining all of the choices!
Once your options are selected, I'll create the page layouts using the best of your wedding day photos. When I'm done I'll send a proof your way and we can make any changes you want.
Once everything looks good to go and you like the layout, I will order your album and have it sent directly to you.
Album design process
I can tell you is this: Whether you book with me or my associate, Mike, I (we) invest a lot of intensive time, providing a hands on, customized, and personal service, to each and every couple.
Additionally, I make extra investments on the business side to ensure our couples images are safe, our gear is always in tip-top condition, and our skills are continually enhanced. When all this is said and done (and paid for. ha) You are the one that benefits.
I understand the photography is an investment, but I also know how important it is. (afterall, it's the one aspect of your wedding day that will outlive us) This is why I don't take any chances when working with couples who are trusting me to document their one and only day.
What makes K. Lenox worth the investment?
How are you supposed to know if everything will happen in a perfectly timed block of 6 hours or 8 hours? It's baffling! With Comprehensive Coverage, you won't need to worry about hours, Your Lead Photographer will arrive for 2 hours of getting ready/detail images and stay through a good hour of open dancing, you can schedule as much or as little time for pictures as you like in between!
Comprehensive coverage is excellent for Catholic Ceremonies, Weddings with more than one venue, large areas, or when having to coordinate any sort of "travel". (ie, shuttle busses, ski lifts etc)
Typical Coverage ranges from 10-11 hours. If you would benefit from Comprehensive Coverage- this will be discussed during our consultation.
What is comprehensive coverage?
Travel fees are already included for wedding coverage. However, If extensive travel is expected, this will be discussed at our consultation.
Complimentary Engagement Sessions include 50 miles of travel. If your session is to take place further than 50 miles out, session fees will be assessed on a case by case basis.
Any travel requiring 2+ hours of travel (each way) will be charged the full session rate of $650.
When do you charge Travel?
I'm a huge advocate for prints! While Digital images serve their purpose... nothing compares to holding your images in your hands. Which is one reason why I include a complimentary album.
For right now- all you have to do is get your wedding day reserved.
When the time comes you will have the opportunity to upgrade your album into a beautiful heirloom piece that fully tells your wedding day story. The albums I offer are STRONG and SIMPLE, and come with a lifetime workmanship guarantee.
All of my albums are built by hand by expert craftsman with only the most durable materials available.
Tell me more about wedding Albums after the wedding!
You’ve got enough on your plate—our thorough and detail oriented approach ensures you’ll have more photos than you could ever need or want, but we do recommend bringing to our attention any special people, planned moments, or unique details you’d like to capture that we might not know to anticipate.
On your wedding day, please have the rings, dress, shoes, jewelry and any other heirlooms you’d like in the photos in the bridal suite. We will typically spend the first hour of our coverage shooting your details and final hair/makeup.
Do I need to make a "Shot List" of my desired photos?
Absolutely!! (But believe me- you will appreciate it!!) I'm actually a pretty laid-back gal, but when it comes to your wedding day- preparation is the key to success. Don't worry- I'm not stressed or anxious. . . just organized. This allows me to bring relaxed energy to your day. You will receive a couple very detailed questionnaires about 3 months from your wedding date, which covers everything!
After I review the details, I put together a final timeline for your day, and we schedule our final meeting. We plan and prepare so that you can just relax and let-go on your wedding day!
ARe you Organized?
If for some reason I am too sick, injured or die (which I can honestly say has never happened, lol) and cannot shoot your wedding, it's my responsibility to find a professional replacement. And my first go-to will be my associate Mike.
If by chance, I can't find a replacement- you will receive a full refund. (A full refund less any expenses already incurred, such as standard engagement session for example.)
What happens if you cannot shoot our wedding?
This is one area where I will never commit to a solid number. There are so many factors that go into play here.
While the final collection of images always varies, a good estimate is approximately 50 images per hour of shooting. And I place quality over quantity. (With an occasional exception where I include "less than technically perfect" photo because it has a special meaning to your day.)
While I can't guarantee you a set-in-stone number, I can promise that your wedding gallery will hold enough photos to fully and beautifully tell the story of your day.
How many photos will we receive?
ONE. 1. Uno... That's it... only one. Many of my colleagues will shoot back to back weddings. I simply can't offer my clients the very best doing that. Once I am booked for your wedding- I won't take any other jobs that weekend. This allows me to fully focus all my attention to you, on the most important day of your life.
As for 'Each year' this changes, but for 2023 and 2024, I’m only accepting 20. I do this so I can give my couples the best experience and photos possible and not spread myself thin. I focus on quality, not quantity. I’m not in this for the money, I’m in this for you. However, now that I have an associate, more couples can book with K. Lenox Photography without sacrificing quality!
How many Wedding do you shoot in a weekend?
Absolutely not. In fact, because of how efficiently I work on the day of and the help I give you in preparing your family picture list, most family photo sessions on a wedding day are complete within 10-15 minutes. (The time it takes though also depends on your family members promptness and cooperation level)
That being said, when crafting a timeline- I do add in plenty of "buffer time", which typically will set aside 30-45 minutes for these family portraits. This just allows us to have a little wiggle room in case things are running behind.
Do we have to spend an hour taking famiily photos?
Absolutely. Many wedding venues require vendors to be insured. Rest assured- I take my business (and your photos) very seriously. I'll be able to provide your venue with proof of insurance when requested.
ARE YOU INSURED?
Fantastic! To reserve your wedding date, I’ll need a completed contract and a non-refundable deposit. The remaining balance will be split up into two or three payments, (depending on your wishes) with the final being due 2 weeks before the wedding.
No worries- I send one pretty email with everything you need to reserve your date! Click the one link- and everything can be handled in one quick swoop!
How do we book you?
